BIO-HYDROGELS PRODUCTION AND PROOF-OF-CONCEPT

Hydrogels were produced at Mersin University (MEU) to protect Mediterranean vineyards affected by drought. An international project titled " Ecological Survey for Biological Management and Protection of Mediterranean Vineyards Facing Climate Changes" was prepared by MEU Faculty of Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering Faculty Members Prof. Dr. Yağmur Uysal and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Görkem Doğaroğlu. The project, which is also accepted within the scope of the PRIMA program, which supports international joint projects in Mediterranean countries, and whose short name is VINEPROTECT, is carried out in universities in Portugal, Italy, Morocco and Turkey. The team, which carried out studies in the Turkish leg of the project, produced hydrogels to take measures for vineyards affected by drought in Mediterranean countries.
